FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Five different UW-Stevens Point women's hockey players had multi-point nights as the Pointers (1-2-0) earned an 8-0 win at Marian (0-1-0) on Wednesday.
Bella Moskonas (Greenfield, Wis.) scored her first goal in a UWSP sweater to put the Pointers ahead with 34 seconds left in the first period. Her goal, the eventual game-winner, was assisted by
Maike Zipp (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) and
Gina Magro (Tower Lakes, Ill./Barrington).
The offense exploded early in the second period.
Lauren Wincentsen (Wausau, Wis./West) scored her first of the night at 1:44, a power-play tally.
Francesca Carrubba (Mountain View, Cali./NAHA) got her first collegiate point with an assist and
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) also grabbed a helper.
Less than two minutes later,
Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) recorded another power-play goal.
Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury) and
Laina Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) had the assists.
Ashtyn Wiltscheck (Sleepy Eye, Minn./New Ulm) got on the scoresheet with a goal at 9:20 of the second.
Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) and
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) netted helpers, the first career point for Stanius.
Wincentsen scored her second of the period at 17:46 with Berthiaume adding an assist.
Berthiaume was the goal scorer early in the third netting her first of the year.
Molly Millar (Anchorage, Alaska/East) registered her first career point with an assist with Wiltscheck adding the other assist.
Aadalen scored her first of the season at 13:42 of the third.
Annika Horman (Appleton, Wis./North) posted the assist.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn. /Maple Grove) scored her first career goal at 16:39 of the third to complete the scoring.
Anna Cheney (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) and Zipp had assists on the play.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) needed to make just 16 saves in the shutout win. MU goaltender Kayla Kolpitcke made 51 saves.
The Pointers open a five-game homestand on Friday (Nov. 5) with the home opener against St. Scholastica. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
