STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (3-5-0, 1-1-0) earned its first conference win of the year with a 2-1 victory over visiting UW-Superior (4-3-0, 1-2-0) on Saturday.
Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury) gave the Pointers the lead at 15:20 of the first period. Her goal was assisted by
Bella Moskonas (Greenfield, Wis.).
Less than three minutes later, the Yellowjackets equalized to send the game to intermission tied at 1-1.
Gina Magro (Tower Lakes, Ill./Barrington) scored her second goal of the season at 8:19 of the second period, the eventual game-winner.
Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) had the helper of the goal.
Neither team scored in the third period and UWSP goaltender
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) earned the win behind a 46-save performance.
UW-Superior goaltender Rose Beeman had 23 saves in the game.
The Pointers return to the ice on Tuesday (Nov. 23) for a 7:00 p.m. game at St. Norbert.
