Pfeifer Pours in Career-High 20 as Pointers Cruise Past Luther

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team improved to 4-1 with a 70-46 win over visiting Luther (1-4) on Saturday.

Jamie Pfeifer (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) scored a game-high and career-high 20 points for the Pointers.  She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and was two rebounds shy of a double-double with eight boards.

Taylor Greenheck (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) nailed three of UWSP's five three-pointers and totaled 14 points.  Jessica Slowik (Elcho, Wis./Elcho) was also in double figures with 10.

Pfeifer's first bucket gave UWSP a brief 3-2 lead early in the first quarter.  The Pointers played catch-up the rest of the quarter until Greenheck buried consecutive threes in the closing seconds, including a near half court shot at the buzzer that seized the momentum for UWSP.

UWSP catapulted the momentum into a 10-0 run to start the second quarter, including four from Pfeifer.  Slowik hit a three and UWSP held a 33-23 lead at the half.

Pfeifer took over in the third quarter.  She scored 10 points, more than the Norse in the quarter.  Abbie Campion (Janesville, Wis./Milton) drilled a three and had UWSP's other five points in the quarter.

Slowik completed an and-one and had five points in a 7-0 start to the fourth quarter that pushed the lead to 25.  Greenheck hit her third triple of the game and UWSP rolled to the 24-point win.

The Pointers travel to Lakeland on Tuesday (Nov. 23) for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Muskies.
