NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (0-2-0) suffered its second-consecutive one-goal defeat at St. Olaf (2-0-0) on Saturday in a 2-1 loss.
The Pointers found themselves behind when the Oles put the first goal on the board at 6:57 of the first.
Neither team scored in the second period. In the third, St. Olaf pushed the deficit to two with a goal at 12:11, a power-play tally.
The Pointers pulled the goalie with 2:19 remaining and the move finally paid dividends with 15 seconds left in the game.
Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) scored her first of the year to cut the lead in half. The Oles won the faceoff and ran the clock out for the win.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 27 saves in net for the Pointers. St. Olaf goaltender Ivy Shonka stopped 24 shots.
The Pointers close out the season-opening road trip on Wednesday (Nov. 3) at Marian. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
