STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (8-9-0, 4-2-0) defeated UW-Platteville (8-5-2, 0-5-1) by a 2-1 final as the Pointers extended their win streak to four-straight in league play.
Kati Frierdich (Neenah, Wis./Winneconne) broke a scoreless tie in the 64th minute. It was her team-best ninth of the season.
In the 84th minute,
Jessica Camarato (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area) gave the Pointers a 2-0 lead with her second goal of the year.
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) nearly recorded her fourth-straight shutout, but the Pioneers scored as time expired in the 90th minute. Nieman's shutout streak lasted 368:32 since Oct. 2.
Nieman made two saves in the win. UWP goalkeeper Onalee Erickson had six saves.
UWSP closes the regular season next Saturday (Oct. 30) at home against UW-Stout. The match is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
