MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team (15-0) had little trouble in completing a pair of sweeps on Saturday to run the program-record win streak and win total to 15. UWSP swept Concordia University Chicago, 9-0, before taking down host Alverno by the same final.
Kaylee Woelfel (Plymouth,Wis/Plymouth) played at No. 1 singles in both matches picking up a 6-3, 6-4 win over CUC before a 6-0, 6-0 victory versus Alverno.
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won a pair of singles matches on the day. At No. 2 versus the Inferno, her final was 6-1, 6-1. She took the No. 3 singles match versus the Cougars, 6-0, 6-1.
Greta Corcoran (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) and
Abigail Ashley (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) won by 6-0, 6-1 scores at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively against CUC. Corcoran took the No. 3 singles match against Alverno, 6-1, 6-4. Ashley won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0 versus the Inferno.
Laura Traver (Jefferson, Wis. /Jefferson) swept her opponents, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles against Alverno and at No. 6 versus CUC.
In doubles play,
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) won twice at No. 1 conceding a single point on the day. Katilen Hess and
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) earned 8-0 wins at No. 2 in both matches.
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) teamed with Corcoran for an 8-0 win at No. 3 versus CUC.
The Pointers return home to face UW-Whitewater at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 5) at University Courts.
