STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Kati Frierdich (Neenah, Wis./Winneconne) notched her second brace in as many matches as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (6-9-0, 2-2-0) earned a 3-0 win over visiting UW-River Falls (5-8-2, 0-2-1) on Saturday.
Frierdich put the Pointers in front in the 11th minute after tapping home a blocked shot attempt by
Jessica Camarato (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area). In the 41st minute,
Madison Culli (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) nearly gave UWSP a 2-0 lead, but her shot hit the post.
UWSP's search for a second goal nearly came in the 51st minute, but
Jacqueline Aleman's (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) free kick rang off the cross bar.
In the 64th minute, Frierdich converted a UWRF turnover in the box into her second goal of the match for the 2-0 advantage.
Hannah Kroupa (New Berlin, Wis./West) put the match away with a goal in the 86th minute off a corner kick by
McKenzie Johnson (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port).
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) posted her second-straight league clean sheet for the Pointers. She made nine saves. UWRF goalkeeper Kaylie Krueger had eight saves.
The Pointers travel to UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday (Oct. 20) for a 4:00 p.m. match.
