STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team (15-3, 2-3) fell to visiting UW-Eau Claire (5-1, 4-1) in league action on Friday, 9-0.
Kaylee Woelfel (Plymouth,Wis/Plymouth) forced a super-breaker at No. 6 singles. She cruised to a 6-0 win in set one before falling in set two, 6-3. In the super-breaker, Woelfel came up short, 10-3.
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) also pushed her opponent to a super-breaker. She prevailed in the opening set, 7-5, at No. 4 singles. In set two, she fell by a 6-4 score and ultimately fell in the super-breaker, 10-5.
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) nearly forced super-breakers. Covek fell at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 7-5. Leithold reversed the set scores at No. 5 singles.
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won seven points at No. 3 singles.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) picked up three points at No. 2 singles.
In doubles play, Covek and Koepp dropped an 8-5 decision at No. 1. Hess and
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) dropped No. 2 doubles, 8-2, and
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) fell 8-3 at No. 3.
The Pointers wrap up the regular season at UW-River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 16) First serve is set for 10:30 a.m.
