Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Neuberger’s Last Minute Goal Rallies Pointers for Tie at NC

ASHLAND, Wis. – For the second-straight day, the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-9-6, 1-6-3) tied 1-1 at Northland (6-13-2, 0-6-2) after falling behind.

The Jills took a one-goal with a goal just over a minute into the second period.  The Pointers' defense ratcheted up the intensity and held NC off the board the remainder of the game.

Still trailing by a goal, UWSP pulled the goalie for an extra attacker.  Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) found the back of the net with 53 seconds left in regulation to tie the game.  Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) and Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) were credited with assists on the play.

Neither team was able to find a tie-breaking goal in overtime.

Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 32 saves for the Poitners.  NC goaltender Gabby Suhr had 55 saves.

The Pointers return to Ice Hawks Arena for a three-game homestand to end the regular season.  UWSP will face UW-Superior on Friday (Feb. 14) at 7:00 p.m.
