ASHLAND, Wis. – For the second-straight day, the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-9-6, 1-6-3) tied 1-1 at Northland (6-13-2, 0-6-2) after falling behind.
The Jills took a one-goal with a goal just over a minute into the second period. The Pointers' defense ratcheted up the intensity and held NC off the board the remainder of the game.
Still trailing by a goal, UWSP pulled the goalie for an extra attacker.
Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) found the back of the net with 53 seconds left in regulation to tie the game.
Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) and
Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) were credited with assists on the play.
Neither team was able to find a tie-breaking goal in overtime.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 32 saves for the Poitners. NC goaltender Gabby Suhr had 55 saves.
The Pointers return to Ice Hawks Arena for a three-game homestand to end the regular season. UWSP will face UW-Superior on Friday (Feb. 14) at 7:00 p.m.
