STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Sophomore goaltender Oliva Schultz had 39 saves for the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-10-6, 1-7-3) on Friday, but visiting UW-Superior (14-6-1, 4-5-0) got a 1-0 overtime win.
In a penalty-filled game, neither team was able to take advantage on the power play. A total of 19 penalties were called in the game.
UWSP out-shot the Yellowjackets in the first period, 9-8, and again in the second, 10-8. In the third period, Schultz stood tall with 20 saves to send the game to overtime scoreless.
After the Pointers were unable to take advantage of a power play in overtime, UWS was able to chip in the lone goal on a scramble in front of Schultz.
Schultz made 39 saves for the Pointers, tied for her second-most on the season. UWS goaltender McKenzie Whalen had 28 saves.
The Pointers and Yellowjackets close out league play on Saturday (Feb. 15) at Ice Hawks Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
