MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The UW-Stevens point women's hockey team (6-4-2) fell behind and was unable to rally in a 4-1 loss at Augsburg (7-3-0) on Sunday afternoon.
Just 1:27 into the game, the host Auggies took a 1-0 lead. The Pointers were able to hold the deficit at one until the 6:16 mark of the second period.
Entering the third period trailing by two, senior
Maddie Monroe (Aurora, Ill./Batavia) netted her first goal of the season to put UWSP on the board. Freshman
Kiley Hahner (Wausau, Wis./West) added her third assist of the weekend with
Cassie Newcomer (McFarland, Wis./Madison Capitols) also picking up an assist.
Later in the third, Augsburg put the deficit back to two goals with just over five minute remaining. The final goal for the Auggies came in the closing minutes after UWSP had pulled the goalie.

Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 29 saves. Augsburg goaltender Abby Bollig stopped 24 shots.
The Pointers return to Ice Hawks Arena on Wednesday (Jan. 8) for the first home game of 2020. Puck drop against Marian is set for 7:00 p.m.
