STEVENS POINT, Wis. – For the third time in the last four games, the UW-Stevens point men's hockey team (9-6-1) defeated a top-5 team with a 3-1 victory over No. 5 Augsburg (10-4-0) on Saturday.

Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, N.J./) got the Pointers on the board just 2:10 into the game for a 1-0 lead. Freshman
Jake Theis (Chanhassen, Minn./) had the assist on the play.
At the 2:40 mark of the second period, the Auggies tied the game.
Colin Raver (Bartlett, Ill./) put UWSP back in front at the 11:19 mark of the second period, the eventual game-winner.
Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich./) picked up an assist on the goal.
Both teams killed off two-man advantages in the third period as the game remained a one-goal difference. Then at 19:24 of the third,
Austin Kelly (Toledo, Ohio/) picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and scored an empty-net goal to seal the win.
Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont./) made 21 saves in the victory for the Pointers. Augsburg goaltender Daniil Gerasimov made 33 saves.
The Pointers return to play on January 22 at UW-Eau Claire. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
