STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (14-4, 2-0) rallied from down a set to beat visiting UW-Stout (12-5, 0-2) in four sets (17-25-, 25-23, 25-20, 25-12).
Senior
April Gehl (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) had a double-double with a game-high 18 kills and 10 digs. Junior
Ellie Adams (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) led all players with 33 assists.
Emma Peterson (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) led the Pointers with 21 digs.
Mazie Nagel (Stratford, Wis./Stratford) was also in double figures with 10 digs.
The Pointers used an early 5-0 run to pull ahead 107, but the Blue Devils ended the first set with 10 of the final 11 points. A six-point spurt early gave UWSP a 12-8 advantage and Gehl had two late kills to seal the set.
Down 19-16 late in the third, Gehl completed a 9-1 run with consecutive kills to win the set. Gehl took over in the fourth set with seven kills and the Pointers hit .538 in the match-clinching set.
The Pointers travel to Iowa on Saturday (Sept. 28) to face Loras and Dubuque at the Dubuque Quad. Match times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
