STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (12-3) earned a 3-0 win (25-13, 26-24, 25-20) over North Park (5-8) in the nightcap of the Pointers Invitational II on Friday.
Senior
April Gehl (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) recorded her eight-straight double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs. Fellow senior
Tara Emme (St. Nazianz, Wis./Valders) had 10 kills and
Megan Lau (Potter, Wis./Hilbert) added 10 as well.
Maddie Lawson (West Allis, Wis./Nathan Hale) had nine kills and hit .692 for the match.
Ellie Adams (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) led all players with 31 assists, her 12th match of the year with at least 30 assists.
Lawson had seven kills, including three-straight UWSP points to end the set, as the Pointers cruised to victory in the first set. A pair of late blocks and a set-ending kill from Gehl helped UWSP earn the win in set two after trailing 23-20. Emme sparked a 6-1 spurt to break an 11-all tie as UWSP went on to win in three sets.
The Pointers continue the home stand with a pair of matches on Saturday (Sept. 21). UWSP faces Millikin at 12:00 p.m. and No. 18 St. Thomas at 2:00 p.m. in Berg Gym.
