ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (0-1-0) stumbled in a season-opening loss at No. 19 St. Thomas (1-0-0) on Friday afternoon by a 4-1 score.
Freshman
Trinity Christy (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) recorded her first career goal, the lone tally for UWSP, in the 54th minute.
Kati Frierdich (Neenah, Wis./Winneconne) and
Sophia Reddan (Madison, Wis./West) added assists on the play.
The Tommies took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute on a rebound from inside the box. UST doubled the advantage in the 37th minute off a corner kick to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Christy's goal came in the 54th minute as UWSP attempted a rally, but in the 61st minute, the Tommies regained a two-goal advantage. UST scored again in the 64th minute to complete the scoring.

Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made nine saves. St. Thomas keeper Olivia Elvidge stopped two shots.
The Pointers return to the pitch on Sunday (Sept. 1) at Marian. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m. at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex Field 1.
