The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams split squads to compete at the Dr. Keeler Invite hosted by North Central College and the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open hosted by UW-La Crosse. Scores were not kept for either meet.
Dr. Keeler Invite – Results
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca),
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot),
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot), and
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) finished in eighth place in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet timed in at 4:09.62 in the event run on Thursday.
Mertens also earned a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.82 on Friday.
Petkovsek also competed individually in the 800-meter run. She placed 14th with a time of 2:15.88.
UW-La Crosse Eagle Open – Results
Sam Carriveau (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) earned her first collegiate win in field events. She won the long jump with a distance of 5.76 meters (18' 10.75").
The duo of
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) and
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) placed in the top-10 in the discus throw. The pair tossed distances of 46.37 (152' 1") and 42.16 meters (138' 4").
Wethal and Hoepner also earned a pair of fourth-place finishes in the shot put and hammer throw, respectively. Hoepner earned a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.28 meters (168' 3"). Wethal threw a distance of 13.77 meters (45' 2.25").
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) placed among the top-5 in the 400-meter run. She finished in fifth with a time of 1:00.54.
Taylor Fuerstenberg (Sussex,Wis./Hamilton) placed sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.39.
For the men, the quartet of
Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa),
Matt Cieslak (Wilmot, Wis./Wilmot),
Jayden Jesse (Genoa City, Wis./Wilmot) and
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) competed in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet placed second with a time of 3:16.07.
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.92.
Lee Jepsen (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.79.
Alex Egbert (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) and
Matt Stelmasek (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) placed in the top-10 in the 1,500-meter run. The pair timed in at 3:55.02 and 4:00.12, good for fifth- and eighth-place finishes.
Quinn Brownell (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.46.
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) picked up a pair of seventh- and eighth-place finishes in the shot put and discus throw, respectively. He tossed a distance of 15.29 (50' 2") and 48.49 meters (159' 1").
Alex Poncelet (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) rounded out the top-10 with a distance of 43.10 meters (141' 5") in the javelin throw in ninth place.
Casey Olson (Madison, Wis./West) earned a 12th-place finish with a time of 10:32.16 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Anthony Klein (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot) closed out the top-20 in the 200-meter dash. He finished in 17th with a time of 23.38.
The Pointers travel back to La Crosse for final attempts to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Thursday (May 16).
