LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team finished second at the Ashton May Invitational in La Crosse on Saturday. The Pointers women's team placed third.
Results
On the men's side,
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.47 over 35 other competitors.
Wojt teamed up with
Lee Jepsen (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale),
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) and Vince Joliffe for the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet won the crown with a time of 42.20.
Nico LaBracke won the 800-meter run crown with a time of 1:56.29.
Nick Lawson (Madison, Wis./West) finished in third with a time of 1:56.79.
Kohn also placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 13.31 meters (43' 8").
Abraham Skwira (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford) and
Silas Nelson (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet) went three-four in the 5,000-meter run. The pair earned times of 16:50.52 and 16:56.71.
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles. He finished with a time of 15.11.
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.82. Teammates
Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa),
Matt Cieslak (Wilmot, Wis./Wilmot) and
Jayden Jesse (Genoa City, Wis./Wilmot) went 9-10-11 with times of 49.82, 49.90, and 49.90.
Alex Poncelet (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) earned a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.90 meters (167' 0").
Axel Treinen (Wausau, Wis./East) placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:45.60. Two places later,
Robert Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) and
Bret Hilliard (Morton. Ill./Morton) went seven-eight with times of 9:49.99 and 9:50.97.
Alex Egbert (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) made a statement placing sixth in the 1,500-meter run. He finished with a time of 3:55.74.
Quinn Brownell (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.73.
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) earned an eighth-place finish in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.78 meters (5' 10").
On the women's side,
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) won the hammer throw. She won it with a distance of 51.41 meters (168' 8"). Hoepner and
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) earned second- and third-place finishes in the discus throw. The throwing duo reached distances of 45.28 (148' 7") and 42.85 (140' 7") meters.
Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) continued her win streak in the javelin throw. She won the event with a distance of 41.86 meters (137' 04").
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.63.
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) earned the runner-up position in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.63. She also clocked in a time of 25.66, good for fifth, in the 200-meter dash.
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) placed second with a time of 2:17.61 in the 800-meter run. Not too far off was
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca), who placed fourth with a time of 2:19.41.
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.20 meters (17' .75").
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) finished in fifth place with a time of 1:06.54 in the 400-meter hurdles.
The freshman duo of
Paige Allemann (Waumandee,Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) and
Kalena Clauer (Rubicon,Wis./Arrowhead) earned fifth- and sixth-place finishes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The pair clocked in times of 13:13.89 and 14:50.38.
Georgia Harrison (West Bend, Wis./East) placed eighth out of a 57-runner field in the 1,500-meter run. The junior crossed the finish line with a time of 4:47.47.
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Shannon Nelson (Franklin, Wis./Oak Creek),
Sam Carriveau (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere),
Lydia Ulrich (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) and
Makenzie Ward (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) placed sixth with a time of 49.71.
Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and Carriveau earned the sixth and seventh positions in the triple jump. The pair jumped distances of 10.79 (35' 4.75") and 10.75 meters (35' 3.25").
The Pointers head south to the Platteville Invitational hosted by UW-Platteville next Friday (April 12) and Saturday (April 13).
