UWSP Track and Field Competes at UW-Platteville Invitational

PLATTEVILLE, Wis.-The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams traveled south to UW-Platteville for the UW-Platteville Invitational. A total of 13 teams were in attendance at the invite. 
 
Results: Men | Women
 
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) won the 1,500-meter run crown with a time of 5:02.63.  Brianna Bralich (West Bend,Wis./West) and Paige Allemann (Waumandee,Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) followed up with third- and fourth-place finishes with times of 5:12.44 and 5:14.67. 
 
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) earned the runner-up position in the 100-meter dash.  She locked in a time of 12.07.
 
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) finished in a tie for second place in the high jump.  She cleared the bar at the height of 1.63 meters (5' 4.25"). 
 
Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) landed in second in the javelin throw with a distance of 35.92 meters (117' 10").
 
Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) leaped to a distance of 11.03 meters (36' 2.25") in the triple jump, good for a third-place finish. 
 
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) placed fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.26 meters (158' 04").  Hoepner claimed a fourth-place finish in the discus throw with a throw of 41.25 meters (135' 04") and was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 13.08 meters (42' 11").  Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) also claimed a fifth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 41.04 meters (134' 08"). 
 
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot), Mertens, Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) and Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:03.67. 
 
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.43 meters (17' 9.75"). 
 
Claire Neuberger (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) placed eighth clearing the bar at the height of 3.30 meters (10' 10.00") in the pole vault. 
 
The 4x100-meter relay team of Shannon Nelson (Franklin, Wis./Oak Creek), Sam Carriveau (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere), Lydia Ulrich (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) and Makenzie ward came in eighth out of 11 teams.  The quartet timed in at 50.77. 
 
Falk took ninth with a time of 1:10.05 in the 400-meter hurdles. 
 
Wellhausen and Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) earned 21st- and 22nd-place finishes in the 400-meter dash.  The pair made a time of 1:02.87 and 1:02.89.   
 
For the men, the distance duo of Robert Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) and Axel Treinen (Wausau, Wis./East) placed second and third in the 1,500-meter run, respectively.  The pair finished with a time of 4:07.62 and 4:07.77. 
 
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.14.  Schrang also competed in the 400-meter hurdles with a sixth-place finish in a time of 57.29. 
 
Lee Jepsen (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale), Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka), Vince Jolliffe and Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) placed fifth with a time of 42.75 in the 4x100-meter relay. 
 
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) took home a seventh-place finish in the shot put.  He recorded a distance of 14.90 meters (48' 10.75").
 
Alex Egbert (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) earned a time of 1:56.40 in the 800-meter run, good for an eighth-place finish. 
 
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) finished in fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 48.95 meters (160' 07").  He finished in a three-way tie for eighth in the pole vault.  He cleared the bar at the height of 4.25 meters (13' 11.25").
 
Caleb Rheinschmidt (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) placed eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.72 meters (161' 07").
 
Travis Wollenberg (Navarivo, Wis./Bonduel), Nick Lawson (Madison, Wis./West), Nico LaBracke and Alex Egbert (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) was one of two teams to round out the top-10 of the 4x400-meter relay.  The quartet placed ninth with a time of 3:27.82. 
 
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) placed 13th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.45. 
 
Wollenberg rounded out the top-25 in 23rd in the 400-meter dash.  He finished with a time of 52.24. 
 
Up next, the Pointers travel to UW-La Crosse for the Phil Esten Challenge on Thursday (April 18) and Friday (April 19).  The decathlon events are scheduled to begin on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the rest starting the following day.
