STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams made final bids for the NCAA Indoor National Championships on Saturday at the Pointer Final Qualifier. No team scores were kept.
Results
On the men's side,
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.32.
Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa),
Matt Cieslak (Wilmot, Wis./Wilmot),
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) and
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:19.20
The quartet of
Alex Egbert (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas),
Travis Wollenberg (Navarivo, Wis./Bonduel), Nico LaBracke and
Matt Stelmasek (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) won the distance medley crown with a time of 10:08
Bret Hilliard (Morton. Ill./Morton) won the one-mile run with a time of 4:19.03.
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) placed fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 16.88 meters (55' 4.75").
Teron Miller (Chicago, Ill./Prospectus Charter),
Nick Chesterman (Sun Prairie, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) and
OJ James (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) went five-six-seven in the triple jump with distances of 12.55 (41' 2.25"), 12.54 (41' 1.75") and 12.07 (39' 7.25") meters. James and Miller finished in eighth and ninth place in the long jump. The pair earned distances of 6.12 meters (20' 1.00") and 6.07 meters (19' 11.00").
Caleb Rheinschmidt (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) placed seventh in the shot put with a distance of 15.13 meters (49' 7.75").
Preston Mertins (Dorchester, Wis/Colby) finished in eighth place with a time of 15:57.31 in the 5,000-meter run.
For the women,
Taylor Campbell (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:17.68.
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) continued her winning streak in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.77.
Wellhausen also ran the final leg of the 4x400-meter relay with
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot),
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) and
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union). The quartet earned the runner-up position with a time of 3:56.09.
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) took second in the shot put with a throw of 13.64 meters (44' 9.00"). She and
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) placed second and third in the weight throw with distances of 16.09 (52' 9.50") and 15.26 (50' 0.75") meters.
Shannon Nelson (Franklin, Wis./Oak Creek) placed third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.10. In addition, she placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.10.
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) and
Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) placed third and fourth in the triple jump with distances of 11.20 (36' 9.00") and 10.93 meters (35' 10.50").
Briana Simonis (Rosholt, Wis./Rosholt) and
Elle Maculan (Rockford, Ill./Auburn) went four-five in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 9.42 and 9.68. Simonis also earned a tie for an eighth-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.53 meters (5' 0.25").
Makenzie Ward (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) and
Lydia Ulrich (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) earned seventh- and eighth-place finishes in the long jump. The pair soared to distances of 5.00 (16' 5.00") and 4.98 (16' 4.25") meters.
Those who qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships head to Boston, Massachusetts on Friday (March 8) and Saturday (March 9). The final list of accepted participants will be released on Sunday (March 3) by 7:00 p.m. ET on ncaa.com.
