WHITEWATER, Wis. -
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) won two of the Pointers' four event titles on day two at the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships (presented by Culver's) on Saturday.
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) and the men's 4x400-meter relay also brought home titles. The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team finished third with a score of 109 and the men moved up to sixth with 61.
Results
Momont won the pentathlon with a score of 3,572, a school record. She won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.09 and won the high jump with a height of 1.71 meters (5' 7.25") in the pentathlon.
Momont also won the 60-meter hurdles event with a time of 9.01, 0.05 faster than the runner-up finisher.
Wellhausen continued her winning ways in the 800-meter run. She won the event with a time of 2:16.62, just 0.02 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.49.
Mertens and Wellhausen ran the final two legs of the 4x400-meter relay with
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) and
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot), respectively. The group earned a second-place finish with a time of 3:58.76.
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 16.94 meters (55' 7.00").
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) earned a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.97. She also placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 10.86 meters (35' 7.75").
Georgia Harrison (West Bend, Wis./East) placed 12th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:35.94.
For the men, the quartet of
Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa),
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield),
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) and
Matt Cieslak (Wilmot, Wis./Wilmot) won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:19.27.
Wojt also earned a runner-up position in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.95.
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) placed third in the heptathlon with a score of 5,026. In the process to third, he earned the runner-up position in the pole vault with a height of 4.52 meters (14' 10.00"). Also, he placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.87 meters (6' 1.50").
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) and
Omena Onomakpome (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) earned a fourth- and seventh-place finish, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. The sophomore-freshman duo earned times of 8.29 and 8.42, respectively.
Isaiah Yaroch earned a third-place finish in the weight throw. He threw a distance of 17.83 meters (58' 6.00").
Travis Wollenberg (Navarivo, Wis./Bonduel) earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:55.43 in the 800-meter dash.
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) soared to a distance of 13.82 meters (45' 4.25") in the triple jump, good for a seventh-place finish.
The Pointers return home to the Multi-Activity Center for the Pointer Final Qualifier on Saturday (March 2). The first events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
