OSHKOSH, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams got in one final competitive tune-up in before next week's WIAC Championships at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge. The men placed sixth out of 14 teams with a score of 40. Meanwhile, the women placed eighth out of 14 with 34 points.
Results
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) earned the 60-meter hurdles crown. He won the event with a time of 8.29, 0.01 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Bret Hilliard (Morton. Ill./Morton) earned a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. He locked in a time of 8:48.61.
Nico LaBracke finished with a time of 1:55.23 in the 800-meter run, good for a third-place finish.
Caleb Rheinschmidt (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) placed fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 16.37 meters (55' 7.5"). He also earned a 12th-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 14.45 meters (47' 5.00").
Quinn Brownell (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee),
Joe Martinsen (Waterford, Wis./Union Grove),
Isaiah Schilling (Spencer, Wis./Spencer) and
Dustin Knoeck (Marathon, Wis./Marawood South) placed fifth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:30.30.
For the first time in his collegiate career,
Trey Hess (Wausau, Wis./East) competed in the one-mile run. He finished in eighth place with a time of 4:28.16.
Jayden Jesse (Genoa City, Wis./Wilmot) rounded out the top-10 in the 400-meter dash. He placed in 10th with a time of 51.50.
For the women,
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) earned the runner-up place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.96. Teammate
Shannon Nelson (Franklin, Wis./Oak Creek) finished in 13th with a time of 26.83.
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) earned second place in the shot put with a distance of 13.61 meters (44' 8"). Wethal and
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) went six-seven in the weight throw. The pair launched distances of 15.18 meters (49' 9.75") and 14.89 meters (48' 10.25"), respectively.
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville), Mertens,
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot) and
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) earned a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:59.88.
Alter clocked in a time of 1:01.57 in the 400-meter dash, good for a sixth-place finish.
Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) soared to a distance of 10.92 meters (35' 10") in the triple jump to place sixth.
Lydia Ulrich (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) soared to a 12th-place finish in the long jump. She reached a distance of 5.18 meters (17' 0").
Brianna Bralich (West Bend,Wis./West) earned a 13th-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.02.
Claire Neuberger (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) finished in a three-way tie for 15th in the pole vault at 2.96 meters (9' 8.5").
Up next, the Pointers head to Whitewater, Wis., for the WIAC Indoor Championships (presented by Culver's) next Friday (Feb. 22) and Saturday (Feb. 23). Action begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Kachel Fieldhouse.
