Pointers Score Three in the Third, Net Tie at CUW

MEQUON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-13-3) scored in the opening seconds of the third period and scored three times in the final stanza in a 3-3 overtime tie at Concordia (Wis.) (12-8-3) on Wednesday.
 
The Falcons opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 10:19 of the first period.  Neither team scored in the second as UWSP trailed 1-0 heading to the third.
 
Just 17 seconds in, Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury) tied the game at one on an assist from Cara Lemirande (Janesville, Wis./Madison Capitols).  At the 4:41 mark, Heitsman found the back of the net again to give UWSP a 2-1 lead.  Sophie Regovic (Naperville, Ill./Chicago Mission) tallied an assist on the play.
 
CUW tied the game at 6:49 of the third with the second power-play goal of the game.  At 14:34, the Falcons took the lead, 3-2.
 
Senior Mackenzie Kratch (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) scored less than a minute later to pull the Pointers even at 3-3.  Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) was credited with an assist on the goal. 
 
UWSP senior goaltender Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) made 18 saves, including two in overtime.  CUW goaltender Christina Pattengale made 38 saves.

The Pointers conclude the regular season on Friday (Feb. 15) at home versus UW-Superior.  Puck drop at Ice Hawks Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
