Conley Records 2,000th Career Save in Home Defeat to UWEC

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Senior goaltender Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) reached a milestone on Friday night at Ice Hawks Arena, but the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-12-2, 1-5-1) fell to visiting No. 9/10 UW-Eau Claire (16-4-2, 5-1-1) by a 4-1 final.

Conley recorded 14 saves in the first period to surpass 2,000 saves for her career, just the second Pointer to do so.  She ended night with 38 saves for the Pointers.

UWEC took the lead 8:51 into the first period on an unassisted shot from the blue line off the faceoff.

Late in the first period, Mackenzie Kratch (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) pulled the Pointers even with a power-play tally.  Her goal at 19:03 was assisted by Cara Lemirande (Janesville, Wis./Madison Capitols).

The Blugolds scored twice in the second period, including a power-play goal, to take a 3-1 lead into the third.  Late in the second period, UWSP had a 5-on-3 power play for 1:38, but were unable to score.

UWEC completed the scoring at 6:34 of the third period.  UWEC goaltender Erin Connolly made 11 saves for the win.

The Pointers travel to Eau Claire on Saturday (Feb. 2) looking to salvage the series finale.  Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
