STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 13 ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (5-5-1, 1-1-1) picked up a 6-3 win over UW-Stout (1-7-1, 1-2-0) in the conference home opener for the Pointers.

Senior Danny Kiraly (Glendale, Ariz./) gave the Pointers a 1-0 lead midway through the first period on a nice feed from Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, N.J./)

Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich./) scored the first of his two goals at the 6:35 mark of the second period to give UWSP a 2-0 lead.  Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C./) got the assist on the play.

Less than two minutes later, Zech tallied another on the power play to push the lead to 3-0.  Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn./) and Kelly O'Brien (Detroit, Mich./) provided helpers.

The Blue Devils broke through with a pair of goals in less than a minute to make it a one-goal game later in the second.

With just 37 seconds remaining in the second, Northey again got the assist, this time setting up Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis./) to cushion the lead back to two goals.

O'Brien pushed the advantage to 5-2 early in the third with Kiraly picking up his second point of the night.

Stout scored at 7:26 of the third period to get back within two goals.  Then in the final second of the game, Austin Kelly (Toledo, Ohio/) buried an empty-net goal to conclude the scoring.

Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont./) made 20 saves for the win.  UW-Stout goaltender Brennan Kitchen had 32 saves.
