ASHLAND, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (5-6-1, 1-2-1) saw a two-goal lead vanish is a 3-2 loss at Northland (3-6-0, 1-3-0) on Saturday.
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C./) put the Pointers in front, 1-0, late in the first period.
Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich./) picked up his third point of the weekend with an assist.
Early in the second period,
Brennen Miller (Keller, Texas/) doubled the lead on an assist from
Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, N.J./).
Later in the second, the Lumberjacks scored twice within five and a half minutes to tie the game at 2-2. At 11:25 of the third period, Northland took its first lead of the game and held on for the win.
Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont./) made 16 saves for UWSP and Northland goaltender Gennaro Anzevino had 24 saves.
UWSP finishes the calendar year with a home-and-home against UW-Eau Claire next weekend. Friday's game begins at 7:00 p.m. at K.B Willett Arena before the teams take the ice Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Eau Claire.
