Pointers Suffer First Loss After Abysmal Outside Shooting Night

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (6-1) suffered a 64-46 loss to Bethel (6-2) after shooting just 1-for-20 from three-point range.

Ethan Bublitz (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) led the Pointers with 14 points and had four rebounds.  Blake Ehrke (Deerfield, Wis./Deerfield) was also in double figures with 12 points.  Brandon Spray (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) made the only three-pointer for UWSP and led the team with seven rebounds.

Ehrke had six early points as UWSP went ahead 8-5.  After a 6-0 run by the Royals, Bublitz scored four points to give the Pointers the lead back at 12-11.  Consecutive threes by Bethel put the Royal up 17-12 with 8:10 in the first half led the rest of the way.  A 10-4 run to end the half gave Bethel a 31-24 lead.

Spray and Aaron Knez (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chippewa Falls) combined for the first seven points of the second half as UWSP cut the deficit to three.  The Royals then went on an 11-2 run as the deficit reached double digits where it remained until the buzzer.

The Pointers travel to Ripon on Saturday (Dec. 14) for a 7:00 p.m. tilt with the Red Hawks.
