STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey (4-5-1) rallied from down four goals, but fell to visiting Concordia (Wis.) on Saturday by a 5-4 final.
The Falcons converted on each of their three power-play opportunities and took a 4-0 lead early in the second period.
Captain
Brennen Miller (Keller, Texas/) started the Pointers' rally with a goal at the 4:25 mark of the second.
Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich./) picked up a helper on the goal.
Colin Raver (Bartlett, Ill./) cut the deficit in half at the 11:13 mark of the second with UWSP's leading scorer
Luke McElhenie (Sauk City, Wis./) setting up the tally.
In the third period, it was
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C./) scoring his first of the season to get UWSP within a goal.
Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis./) and
Kellen Tharaldson (Wausau, Wis./) had assists, the first point of Tharaldson's career.
Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn./) completed the comeback with a goal at 12:27 of the third to tie the game at 4-4. Senior
Drew McLean (Waterford, Mich./) assisted on the game-tying goal.
CUW broke the tie just over a minute later and closed out the win.
Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind./) made his first career start for UWSP and made six saves.
Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont./) made nine saves. CUW goaltender Bo Didur had 41 saves in the win.
The Pointers close out the homestand on Friday (Dec. 6) with a conference clash against UW-Stout. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
