Women’s Hockey Surges Late in 5-0 Blanking of SNC

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (5-3-1) scored four goals in the third period and shut out St. Norbert (2-4-0) for the second time in as many Tuesdays, 5-0.

Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) broke a scoreless tie with a power-play goal in the final seconds of the second period.  It was her team-leading fifth of the season with assists from Ashtyn Wiltscheck (Sleepy Eye, Minn./New Ulm) and Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury).

Wiltscheck doubled the Pointers lead just 1:08 into the third period with Neuberger returning the favor of an assist.  It was Wiltscheck's first career-multi point game.

Less than a minute later, Heitsman buried an unassisted goal for a three-goal lead.  Freshman Kiley Hahner (Wausau, Wis./West) made it 4-0 at 5:34 of the third period with Sophie Regovic (Naperville, Ill./Chicago Mission) picking up her first assist of the night.

Regovic dished out another helper as Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) lasered a power-play tally into the net at 14:49 to cap the scoring.

Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) recorded her second shutout of the Green Knights with 23 saves.  SNC goaltender Evi Johnson made 33 saves.

The Pointers return to conference play on Dec. 7 as Northland comes to Ice Hawks Arena for the first time as a WIAC opponent.  Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
