STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (5-3-1) scored four goals in the third period and shut out St. Norbert (2-4-0) for the second time in as many Tuesdays, 5-0.
Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) broke a scoreless tie with a power-play goal in the final seconds of the second period. It was her team-leading fifth of the season with assists from
Ashtyn Wiltscheck (Sleepy Eye, Minn./New Ulm) and
Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury).
Wiltscheck doubled the Pointers lead just 1:08 into the third period with Neuberger returning the favor of an assist. It was Wiltscheck's first career-multi point game.
Less than a minute later, Heitsman buried an unassisted goal for a three-goal lead. Freshman
Kiley Hahner (Wausau, Wis./West) made it 4-0 at 5:34 of the third period with
Sophie Regovic (Naperville, Ill./Chicago Mission) picking up her first assist of the night.
Regovic dished out another helper as
Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) lasered a power-play tally into the net at 14:49 to cap the scoring.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) recorded her second shutout of the Green Knights with 23 saves. SNC goaltender Evi Johnson made 33 saves.
The Pointers return to conference play on Dec. 7 as Northland comes to Ice Hawks Arena for the first time as a WIAC opponent. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
