SUPERIOR, Wis. – Junior
Emma Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) recorded her first career multi-goal game for the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (4-3-1, 0-2-0), but the Pointers fell to UW-Superior (4-1-1, 2-1-0) by a 6-3 final.
The Yellowjackets jumped in front with goals at the 3:58 and 10:39 mark of the first period.
Berthiaume netted her first of the game, an unassisted tally, at 13:33 to get UWSP within a goal headed to the second.
UW-Superior added three goals to begin the second, a shorthanded, a power-play and a full-strength goal to take a 5-1 lead.
Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) scored at 11:43 to begin a comeback attempt for the Pointers. Berthiaume scored again with just over five minutes left in the period. Both UWSP goals were unassisted.
The Yellowjackets added a shorthanded tally late in the second. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third period.
UWSP goaltenders
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) and
Marit Larson (Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul) combined for 31 saves. UWS goaltender Catherine Johnson made 15 saves.
The Pointers return home to face St. Norbert on Tuesday (Nov. 26) at 7:00 p.m.
