STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team improved to 2-0-0 on the young season with a 4-1 win over St. Olaf (0-2-0) to complete the weekend sweep.
The Oles took the lead in the first period with a power-play goal at the 13:31 mark.
Later in the period,
Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) knotted the game at 1-1 with her first goal of the season. Fellow sophomore
Anna Cheney (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) picked up an assist on the play.
The Pointers got a power-play goal from
Emma Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) at the 4:17 mark of the second period to take a 2-1 lead.
Sophie Regovic (Naperville, Ill./Chicago Mission) had an assist on the eventual game-winner.
In the third period,
Gina Magro (Tower Lakes, Ill./Barrington) scored her first career goal at the 10:35 mark. Kremer grabbed her second point of the game with an assist on the play.
Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) closed out the scoring with a late goal.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 27 saves to pick up her first win of the season. St. Olaf goaltender Grace Boswell-Healey made 25 saves.
UWSP heads to Marian on Wednesday (Nov. 6) for the first road game of the season. The game is slated for an 8:00 p.m. start in Fond du Lac.
