RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (3-2-1, 0-1-0) fell to No. 4 UW-River Falls (4-0-0, 1-0-0) in the conference opener, 5-0, on Friday.
The Falcons scored just once in the first period as UWSP goaltender
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 19 stops to keep UWSP in the game.
In the second period, Schultz made 16 more saves, but the Falcons tallied two goals for a 3-0 lead heading to the third.
UWRF scored twice more early in the third to put the game out of reach.
The Pointers got three shots apiece from
Emma Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) and
Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury), but were out-shot 54-12 in the game. Schultz totaled a career-best 49 saves.
UWSP travels to De Pere on Tuesday (Nov. 19) for a 7:00 p.m. game against St. Norbert.
