Pointers Down Saint John’s on Four-Goal Second Period

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The No. 5 ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (3-2-0) scored four-straight goals in the second period to take a 6-4 win over Saint John's () on the road Friday night.
 
Freshman Jake Theis (Chanhassen, Minn./) scored his first career goal to put the Pointers in front at the 12:50 mark.  Colin Raver (Bartlett, Ill./) and Austin Kelly (Toledo, Ohio/) had assists on the goal.
 
In the opening minute of the second period, the Johnnies scored to equalize the game at 1-1.  SJU took the lead at 7:11 of the second.
 
The Pointers trailed for just 43 seconds as Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich./) netted his first of the night on assists from Drew McLean (Waterford, Mich./) and Luke McElhenie (Sauk City, Wis./).
 
Two minute later, Danny Kiraly (Glendale, Ariz./) put the Pointers back in front with MacKellar and Mikey Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wis.) getting assists.  It was Butcher's first career point.
 
Zech tallied his second of the night a minute later with McElhenie and McLean again providing helpers.  MacKellar finished the four-goal outburst with a goal on a feed from Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn./).
 
Late in the second, the Johnnies scored two power-play goals to make it 5-4 heading to the third.
 
Kiraly scored a power-play goal midway through the third to secure the road win.  Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, N.J./) and Raver assisted on the goal.
 
Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont./) made 31 saves to pick up the win.  SJU goaltender Andrew Lindgren made 36 saves.
 
The Pointers remain in Minnesota to face Bethel on Saturday (Nov. 16). Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
