Pointers Get Shutout Victory over Blugolds

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (8-2-2, 2-0-0) allowed just two shots on goal in a 1-0 home win over visiting UW-Eau Claire (7-4-0, 0-1-0) in league play on Wednesday.

Junior Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) converted a penalty shot in the 30th minute to account for the scoring in the match.  With the wind at their back, the Pointers controlled a majority of play in the first half, outshooting UWEC 12-4 in the first 45 minutes.

Fellow junior Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made both of her saves in the second half to record the shutout.

Hess and freshman Shea-Lynn Gerred (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) tied for the team lead with four shots each.

The Pointers travel to River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 12) to face the Falcons in a 1:00 p.m. match.
