STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (8-2-2, 2-0-0) allowed just two shots on goal in a 1-0 home win over visiting UW-Eau Claire (7-4-0, 0-1-0) in league play on Wednesday.
Junior
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) converted a penalty shot in the 30th minute to account for the scoring in the match. With the wind at their back, the Pointers controlled a majority of play in the first half, outshooting UWEC 12-4 in the first 45 minutes.
Fellow junior
Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made both of her saves in the second half to record the shutout.
Hess and freshman
Shea-Lynn Gerred (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) tied for the team lead with four shots each.
The Pointers travel to River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 12) to face the Falcons in a 1:00 p.m. match.
