ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior goaltender
Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) earned her fourth career WIAC Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday and then made 46 saves in a 1-0 shutout win at St. Catherine (3-10-0) as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-6-2) extended its unbeaten streak to three games to begin the new year.
Conley's 46 saves were the second-most on the season and her second-highest total in a shutout in her career. It was her second shutout of the year and ninth of her career.
UWSP got its offense from senior
Mackenzie Kratch (Waconia, Minn./Waconia), who scored on the power play at 11:41 of the first period. It was Kratch's third goal of the season. Sophomore
Emma Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) picked up the assist, here second of the season.
Following the goal, Conley made 38 saves the remainder of the game to preserve the shutout.
The Pointers travels to Illinois to face Aurora University on Friday and Saturday. Start time both days is slated for 12:00 p.m.
