Pointers Open Second Half With 3-2 Win

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The No. 1-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (14-0-2) defeated Concordia College (Minn.) (9-3-2), 3-2, on Friday night.

Freshman Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis.), playing in his first career game as a Pointer, scored the opening goal at the 12:18 mark of the first period for his first career goal. Picking up assists were Wesley Ashley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.).

Concordia tied the game with 2:21 remaining in the first period with a power-play goal from Kyle Siemers.

The Cobbers took a 2-1 advantage on a goal by Matt Donnelly 1:42 into the second period.

The Pointers' Drew McLean (Waterford, Mich.) tallied the equalizer at 6:28 in the second with a power-play goal. Assists were Roo and Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich.).

Senior Stephan Beauvais (Shelby Township, Mich.) picked up his first goal of the season recording the game-winner at 9:20 in the third period. Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Colin Raver (Bartlett, Ill.) had assists on the goal.

Sophomore goaltender Connor Ryckman (Minesing, Ont.) improved to 14-0-1 on the season making 13 saves. Cobbers' Jacob Stephan took the loss and made 27 saves.

The Pointers head to St. Olaf on Saturday (Jan. 5). Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
