WHITEWATER, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team finished in fourth place at the UW-Whitewater Classic Invitational. The Pointers scored 75 points in the 11-team field.
Results
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) won the pentathlon with a convincing score of 3,426, 57 points more than the runner-up. She won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.20, 0.07 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. She also won the high jump with a height of 1.63 meters (5' 4.25").
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) wrapped up the hepathlon with a victory, winning the event with a score of 4,913. Teammate
Nick Chesterman (Sun Prairie, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) came in second scoring 4,285.
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) earned a second-place finish in the long jump, soaring to a distance of 5.65 meters (18' 6.50"). She also tabbed a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89. Lewis also earned a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.64 meters (34' 11.00").
Georgia Harrison (West Bend, Wis./East) earned a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. She timed in at 10:51.78, approximately eight seconds faster than the fourth finisher.
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.18.
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot),
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot),
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) and
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) teamed up for the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:05.04, good for a fourth-place finish.
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) and Wellhausen represented distance runners well with a fifth- and sixth-place finish in the one-mile run. The duo earned times of 5:19.53 and 5:22.61.
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) and
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) went two-three out of the 36 women's throwers competing. The pair launched the hammer distances of 15.73 meters (51' 7.25") and 15.68 meters (51' 5.50"), the pair both setting new career bests.
Wethal also tabbed a top-5 finish in the shot put. She threw the weighted ball to a distance of 12.64 meters (41' 5.75").
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) finished in eighth in the 400-meter dash dashing to a time of 1:01.09.
Makenzie Ward (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) placed ninth in the high jump clearing the bar at a height of 1.50 meters (4' 11.00").
Taylor Campbell (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells),
Ellen Peterson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) and
Amanda Cieslinski (West Allis, Wis./Central) went 14-15-16 in the 5,000-meter run. The cross country trio athletes earned times of 20:19.19, 20:20.14 and 20:25.34.
The Pointers will return home to the Multi-Activity Center for the annual Pointer Invite on Saturday (Feb. 2). The first event is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
