STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Freshman
Morgan Oettinger (Beaver Dam, Wis./Madison Capitols) had a goal and an assist for the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-8-2), but visiting St. Norbert (4-10-1) came away with a 6-3 win.
Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) gave the Pointers a lead at the 9:38 mark of the first period with
Mackenzie Kratch (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) and
Haley Sellers (Kenosha, Wis./Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) assisting on the goal.
The Green Knights equalized on the power play, the first of four goals for SNC's Jessica Schlaff. Her second goal gave St. Norbert a 2-1 lead after one period of play.
Freshman
Sophie Regovic (Naperville, Ill./Chicago Mission) tied the game at 2-2 with a nice one-timer off a feed from Oettinger 1:58 into the second period.
SNC scored four-straight goals in the second period, including an empty-netter late in the period to take a 6-2 lead into intermission.
Oettinger found the back of the net for her first career goal at the 1:40 mark of the third period. Her unassisted tally completed the scoring.
Senior
Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) took the loss, making nine saves. Freshman
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) turned aside all six shots she faced in 25:16 in net. SNC goaltender Audrey Moore made 20 saves.
The Pointers travel to UW-River Falls to complete the season series with games on Friday and Saturday. Games times are 7:05 p.m. and 2:05 p.m., respectively.
