Hardyman with Goal, Assist as UWSP Soccer Wins Conference Opener

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Junior Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) scored the game-winner in the 17th minute as the No. 25 UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (8-1-1, 1-0-0) won its conference opener, 2-0, over visiting UW-Stout (2-7-1, 0-2-0) on Saturday.
 
Hardyman recorded her team-best sixth goal of the year to open the scoring.  Senior Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) registered the assist on the goal.
 
In the second half, Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) scored against her former team in the 85th minute to secure the win.  Hardyman added her team-leading sixth assist on the play.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made three saves to pick up her third clean sheet of the year.
 
Hardyman and Hess combined for 13 of UWSP's 19 shots in the match.  The Pointers held the Blue Devils to just six shots against.
 
UWSP heads to Eau Claire for a conference match against the Blugolds on Wednesday (Oct. 3) at 4:00 p.m.
