EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (8-1-2, 1-0-1) got a second-half equalizer from junior
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) to earn a 1-1 draw on the road at UW-Eau Claire (4-4-1, 1-0-1) on Wednesday.
The host Blugolds pulled ahead in the seventh minute on the first shot of the match by either team. UWSP followed with three corner kicks, but went to the half trailing by a goal.
In the 65th minute, Hardyman netted her team-high seventh goal of the season to pull the Pointers level. Neither team was able to net a go-ahead goal in regulation and the match went to overtime.
The Pointers recorded the lone shot of the first overtime period. In the second overtime, Hardyman recorded the only shot and UWSP was unable to break the tie on a pair of corner kicks.
Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made five saves after the initial goal to earn the tie.
Hardyman led all players with five shots in the match, three on goal. Four other Pointers had two shots apiece as UWSP out-shot the Blugolds, 16-12.
The Pointers return home for a pair of matches this weekend. UWSP will play UW-River Falls on Saturday and St. Thomas on Sunday. Game times and locations are subject to change.
