RIPON, Wis. – Sophomore
Gracie Wendels (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Assumption) scored in the first minute to the match and the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (6-1-1) picked up a 3-0 win at Ripon (1-4-1) on Wednesday.
Wendels added a second goal in the eighth minute for a first-half brace. Junior
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) picked up assists on both of Wendels' goals in the first half.
In the 78th minute,
Alexis Petersen (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) made it 3-0 in favor of UWSP on her first goal of the season.
Bri Widmer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) earned her first assist as a Pointer on the goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made three saves for her second shutout of the season.
Wendels,
Francesca Hamilton (Milwaukee, Wis./St. Thomas More) and
Kortnee Hass (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) each had three shots to lead the Pointers, who out-shot the Redhawks, 24-6, in the match.
