Hardyman Nets Overtime Winner for UWSP Women’s Soccer

WAVERLY, Iowa – For the third time in four matches, the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (5-0-1) needed double overtime to decide an outcome.  Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) gave the Pointers their second win in double overtime this week with a goal in the 105th minute to beat Wartburg (3-3-0) by a 2-1 score.

Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) scored her first goal as a Pointer in the 51st minute to put UWSP ahead.

The lead lasted until the 75th minute when the home standing Knights found an equalizer.

The match remained knotted at 1-1 until Hardyman scored the game-winner in the 105th minute.  It was her fifth goal of the season and third game-winner.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) made eight saves to keep her record unblemished.

Senior Kortnee Hass (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) led the Pointers with six shots in the match.  Hardyman had a team-high three shots on goal.
