The UW-Stevens Point track and field team sent competitors to two meets on Thursday striving to make their final cases for next week's NCAA Outdoor Championships.

La Crosse Final Qualifier Results
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) held on to win the heptathlon by a narrow 19-point margin in Naperville, Ill. Her total score was 4,462 points with her best event on Thursday, a second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.27 meters (17' 3.5").
In La Crosse,
Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) won the javelin throw with a distance of 40.89 meters (134' 2"), more than four meters further than the runner-up.
Angela Breunig (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) cleared the bar at 3.62 meters (11' 10.5") in the pole vault to tie for first.
Bailey Wolf (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) was runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:33.08.
Emily Schlebecker (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) followed in sixth at 11:59.71.
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) reached a distance of 5.46 meters (17' 11") in the long jump, good for a second-place finish. She finished third in the 100-meter dash finals with a time of 12.44 seconds.
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) finished third in the shot put with a distance of 13.30 meters (43' 7.75"). She threw the discus a distance of 44.71 meters (146' 8") for a second-place finish.
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) finished third in the hammer throw. Her distance of 51.06 meters (167' 6") was less than a half meter behind the event winner.
Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly) placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.74 seconds. Teammate
Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) came in ninth with a time of 1:00.84.
The quartet of
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot),
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union),
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) and Trempe placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:55.94.
Mertens recorded a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.91 seconds.
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.38 seconds, 0.32 seconds faster than the field.
Tylar Kohnke (North Fond du Lac, Wis./Horace Mann) placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 53.12 meters (174' 3").
Brent Reierson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) finished third in the hammer throw with a distance of 56.36 meters (184' 11"). He came in fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 46.61 meters (152' 11"). In the shot put, he placed seventh with a distance of 15.40 meters (50' 6.25").
Michael Posanski (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) clocked a time of 16.50 seconds to place fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.
Nico LaBracke crossed in fourth place in the 800-meter dash. His time was 1:53.72, just over a half second behind the event winner.
The 4x400-meter relay of
Noah Scheer (Elkhorn, Wis./East Troy), Wojt,
Matt Cieslak (Wilmot, Wis./Wilmot) and
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) placed sixth with a time of 3:18.76.
Qualifiers for next week's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be announced over the weekend.
