BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three UW-Stevens Point track and field athletes earned All-American accolades on day two of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. As a team, the men finished in 16th.
Results
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) finished second in the 200-meter dash, missing out on the National Championship by just 0.002 seconds (21.666 to 21.668). He earned All-American status and broke his own school record set yesterday with an official time of 21.67.
Junior
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) earned a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon and All-American status with a total point score of 5,007. His best event came in the pole vault with a first-place finish, clearing the bar at a height of 4.50 meters (14' 9").
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) earned a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash and All-American status. He clocked in a time of 48.77.
Senior
Brent Reierson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) earned a ninth-place finish in the shot put. The senior thrower threw a distance of 15.98 meters (52' 5.25").
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) placed 11th in the triple jump with a distance of 14.42 meters (47' 3.75").
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) finished in 17th in the shot put with a distance of 12.18 meters (39' 11.50").
The Pointers open the outdoor campaign at the Carroll Invite on March 31 in Waukesha, Wis. The meet is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
