Women’s Hockey Skates to 1-1 Tie at UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (11-9-3, 1-5-2) opened its weekend at UW-Superior (14-7-2, 3-3-2) with a 1-1 overtime tie against the Yellowjackets.

Following a scoreless first period, freshman Lilly Johnson (Vail, CO/Battle Mountain) scored her first career goal to give UWSP a 1-0 lead at the 19:03 of the second period.  Senior Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) assisted on the goal.

The lead lasted until the 12:03 mark of the third when UWS tied the game with a power-play goal.

With the man advantage for the final 1:15 of regulation, UWSP could not find the back of the net for the game winner.  In overtime, the Pointers tested the UWS keeper four times to no avail.

Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, MN/South St. Paul) stopped 37 shots for the Pointers, including five in overtime.

The Pointers and Yellowjackets conclude conference play with a 2:00 p.m. contest at Wessman Arena on Saturday (Feb. 10).
