STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams completed the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships (presented by Culver's) with the men in third place and the women fifth.
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) and Hannah Mertins broke school records with their 200-meter dash performances.
Results
Wojt won the 200-meter dash with his record-setting time of 21.87. He teamed with
Noah Scheer (Elkhorn, Wis./East Troy),
Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa) and
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) to win their heat, but finish fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:22.21.
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) finished in second place in the heptathlon with a total score of 4,971. He earned a set of first-place finishes in the 1,000-meter run and the long jump.
Nico Labracke (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc),
Travis Wollenberg (Cecil, Wis./Bonduel) and
Nick Lawson (Madison, Wis./West) went four-five-six in the 800-meter run. The trio of mid-distance runners each earned times of 1:56.30, 1:56.60 and 1:57.07.
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) finished in fourth place in the triple jump. He leaped a distance of 13.96 meters (45' 9.75").
Brent Reierson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 17.87 meters (58' 7.5").
On the women's side, Mertens earned a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash. She ran a time of 25.48, breaking the 1994 university record.
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) paced her way to third-place finish in the 800-meter dash. She ran a time of 2:18.31.
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) sprinted to a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash. The freshman earned a time of 7.84.
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) finished in seventh place in the pentathlon with a score of 2,967.
Anna Hogan (Omro, Wis./Omro) earned a ninth-place finish in the triple jump. She leaped a distance of 11.09 meters (36' 4.75").
Up next, the Pointers host the Pointer Final Qualifier at the Multi-Activity Center on Saturday (March 3) in the final tune up before the NCAA Championships. The meet slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
