UWSP Performs Well at Big Dawg Invite in Tune-Up for WIAC Championships

STEVENS POINT, Wis.-The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams turned in strong performances at the annual Big Dawg Invitational on Saturday at the Multi-Activity Center.  The men won the meet with a score of 194.  The women finished in second-place with a score of 139.5. 
 
Results
 
Brent Reierson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) earned a set of first-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw.  Reierson threw distances of 15.51 meters (50' 10.75") and 17.18 meters (56' 4.5"). 
 
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) earned a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.73. 
 
Noah Scheer (Elkhorn, Wis./East Troy) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.05. 
 
Nick Koschak (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond Burton) won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:34.01. 
 
Max Zeitler (Gillett, Wis./Gillett) finished in first place in the 5,000-meter run.  Zeitler finished with a time of 16:27.15. 
 
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) earned a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.  He finished with a time of 8.64. 
 
Brayden Bernhagen (Markesan, Wis./Markesan) earned a second-place finish in the high jump.  He cleared the bar at a height of 1.83 meter (6' 0").   Bernhagen also earned a second-place finish in the triple jump, with a distance of 12.99 meters (42' 7.5").
 
Lee Jepsen (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) finished in second place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09. 
 
Jeremey Lee earned a second-place finish in the long jump.  He jumped a distance of 6.76 meters (22' 2.25").
 
On the women's side, Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.98, more than five seconds faster than the field. 
 
Angela Breunig (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won the pole vault.  She cleared the bar at a height of 3.55 meters (11' 7.75"). 
 
The team of Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly), Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) and Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:00.48. 
 
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) earned a set of first-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw.  The junior thrower threw distances of 13.21 meters (43' 4.25") and 15.54 meters (51' 0"). 
 
Kara Hoier (New London, Wis./New London) earned a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run.  She finished with a time of 10:55.94. 
 
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) finished in second place in the 60-meter hurdles.  She earned a time of 9.66.  Momont also competed in the long jump earning a fourth-place finish with a distance of 5.11 meters (16' 9.25"). 
 
Erinn Olmsted, Alexis Anderson (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest), Amanda Cieslinski (West Allis, Wis./Central) and Ellen Peterson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) finished in second through fifth place, respectively.  The group finished with times of 5:33.78, 5:47.41, 5:47.74 and 5:47.92. 
 
Anna Hogan (Omro, Wis./Omro) and Briana Simonis (Rosholt, Wis./Rosholt) tied for a fourth-place finish in the high jump.  They both cleared the bar at height of 1.49 meters (4' 10.5"). 
 
Alexandria Schaub (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap) sprinted to a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.20. 
 
The Pointers will host the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships (presented by Culver's) at the Multi-Activity Center on Feb. 23 and 24.
