WHITEWATER, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams saw its men finish fifth and the women, sixth at the Midwest Invitational in Whitewater on Saturday. UWSP's men scored 77 points and the women 53 in the eight-team field.
Results
On the men's side,
Brent Reierson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won the shot put event with throw of 16.05 meters (52' 8"). He also placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 18.15 meters (59' 6.75").
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) earned a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash. The freshman sprinter ran a time of 49.67. Torgerson also teamed up with
Noah Scheer (Elkhorn, Wis./East Troy),
Matt Cieslak (Wilmot, Wis./Wilmot) and
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) for the 4x400-meter relay, where the group finished in fourth place with a time of 3:25.94.
Matt Stelmasek (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) earned a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run. The distance runner ran a time of 14:59.48.
Nico Labracke (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) and
Nick Lawson (Madison, Wis./West) finished in third and fourth place, respectively, in the 800-meter run. The distance runners ran times of 1:55.61 and 1:56.54.
Wojt finished in third place in the 200-meter dash. He finished with a time of 22.23.
Freshman
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) earned a third-place finish in the triple jump. He leaped a distance of 14.03 meters (46' .50").
Alex Egbert (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) finished in fourth place in the one mile run with a time of 4:19.44.
For the women,
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) won the long jump. She leaped a distance of 5.73 meters (18' 9.75"). Lewis also earned a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.96.
Angela Breunig (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) earned a second-place finish in the pole vault. She cleared the bar at a height of 3.68 meters (12' 0.75")
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) clocked in a time of 2:19.77 in the 800-meter run, good for third.
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) earned a fourth-place finish in the shot put. She threw a distance of 11.87 meters (38' 11.50").
Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly) and
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) went four-five in the 400-meter dash. The pair finished with times of 59.61 and 59.98.
Emily Schlebecker (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) finished in fifth place in the one mile run. She finished with a time of 5:11.03.
UWSP returns home to host the Big Dawg Invitational on Feb. 17. The meet is slated to start at 10:30 a.m. at the Multi-Activity Center.
