UWSP Men’s Hockey Gets Goals from Five Players in Road Win

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Five different UW-Stevens Point men's hockey players scored goals as the fourth-ranked Pointers defeated Hamline (0-3-0) in the first road game of the year, 5-2.
 
Sophomore Colin Raver (Bartlett, Ill.) opened the scoring with a goal at the 6:36 mark of the first period.  Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and TJ Roo (Champlin, Minn.) picked up assists for the Pointers (2-0-1).
 
Midway through the first period, Austin Kelly (Toledo, Ohio) doubled the UWSP lead with his first goal of the season.  B.J. Duffin (Red Deer, Alta.) grabbed his first point of the season with an assist.
 
Early in the second period, Hamline pulled one back with a power-play tally just 1:55 into the stanza.
 
Later in the period, HU was again on the power play, but Baxter Kanter (Lincoln, Neb.) netted a shorthanded goal to give UWSP a 3-1 lead.  Luke McElhenie (Sauk City, Wis.) registered his first assist of the year on the goal.
 
Two minutes later, TJ Roo (Champlin, Minn.) picked up his second point of the night with his second goal as a Pointer.  Karty added his second helper of the night and Danny Kiraly (Glendale, Ariz.) recorded his second assist of the year.
 
Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.) gave UWSP a 5-1 lead with a goal at the 15:09 mark of the third period.  Assists came from Kelly O'Brien (Detroit, Mich.) and Ethan Strong (Kinmount, Ont.) on the play.
 
Hamline scored at the 17:58 mark of the third, but the Pointers sealed the win with a power play to end the period.
 
Sophomore Connor Ryckman (Minesing, Ont.) made 24 saves to earn his second win of the year.  The Pipers' keeper, Evan Robert, made 31 saves.
 
The Pointers remain in Minnesota to face Bethel on Saturday (Nov. 3) at 7:00 p.m.
