NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 12 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (1-0) hit eight three-pointers and prevailed in a 54-41 road win at No. 23 St. Olaf (0-2) to open the season on Tuesday.
Senior
Nate Dodge (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) made four threes and led all players with 16 points in the game. He also pulled down a team-best eight boards and snagged a couple steals.
Fellow senior
Canon O'Heron (Bangor, Wis./Bangor) also scored in double figures with 14 points. He added two steals and dished out two assists.
Drew Fredrickson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) topped the squad with six assists. He had eight points with two makes from beyond the arc.

Ethan Bublitz (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) triple put the Pointers ahead 12-2.
Fredrickson snapped a 10 minute drought from the field with another three as UWSP maintained an 18-11 advantage.
Koko Songolo (Madison, Wis./Memorial) scored five points and Dodge nailed another three as the Pointers took a 28-22 lead to halftime.
Dodge opened the second half with another long-distance bucket. O'Heron followed with six-straight points for UWSP and the lead stood at 37-29. Another Dodge three with 6:29 remaining pushed the lead into double-figures at 48-36 and UWSP was not threatened the remainder of the game.
The Pointers return home to face Buena Vista on Saturday (Nov. 17). Tip-off in the home opener on Bennett Court is slated for 3:00 p.m.
