Karty Nets Game-Winner for Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (5-0-1) completed the weekend sweep at home, beating No. 15 St. Thomas (3-2-1on Saturday, 2-1.
 
Junior Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, N.J.) put the Pointers up 1-0 at the 12:30 mark of the first period, finding the net off a pass from junior Brennen Miller (Keller, Texas) and sophomore Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich.)
 
St. Thomas answered two minutes and 20 seconds later as Luke Radetic tied the game at 1-1.
 
The game remained tied until 8:33 into the third period when senior Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, Okla.) buried the puck in the back of the net off assists by Steven Quagliata (Bartlett, Ill.) and Austin Kelly (Toledo, Ohio).
 
St. Thomas tried for the equalizer, pulling the goalie with 32 seconds remaining, but were unsuccessful as the Pointers remain unbeaten.
 
Sophomore Connor Ryckman (Minesing, Ont.) picked up the win, improving to 5-0-0 on the season, and making 22 saves. St. Thomas's Andrew Rohkohl took the loss and made 30 saves.
 
The Pointers head out on the road next weekend to face NCHA rivals Marian on Friday (Nov. 16) and St. Norbert on Saturday (Nov 17). Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. both nights.
